WELCOME BACK!

To finish off our unit on Data Management, we are working on finding the mean, median, mode and range in a set of data.

Just a refresher:
The "mean" is the "average" you're used to, where you add up all the numbers and then divide by how ever many numbers you used.
EXAMPLE: 4, 5, 3, 6, 7      4+5+3+6+7= 25         25 divided by 5 = 5     The mean = 5

The "median" is the "middle" value in the list of numbers. To find the median, your numbers have to be listed in numerical order, so you may have to rewrite your list first.
EXAMPLE: 4, 5, 3, 6, 7       rewritten 3, 4, 5, 6, 7          median (or middle number) = 5

The "mode" is the value that occurs most often. If no number is repeated, then there is no mode for the list.
EXAMPLE: 4, 5, 3, 6, 7 has NO Mode                    356, 765, 786, 765, 543, 876         Mode =765

The "range" is just the difference between the largest and smallest values. Subtract the smallest value from the largest.
EXAMPLE: 546, 785, 623, 544, 456    Smallest value is 456 Largest value is 785  785-456=329    RANGE=329
