Update

A few updates to tell you about.
We said goodbye to our two student teachers today. Mrs. V is back in front of the class full time again starting tomorrow.

On May 8th is our Education Week BBQ. Parents and family are welcome to come in and see 'what's going down' in Grade 5/6!

In Math, we are finishing up our unit on fractions, decimals, ratios and percents. We will be starting this week on Algebra. Here is a link to lots of games your child can play at home.

In Language, we are working on our research assignments. Students have chosen a social studies topic that they will be presenting in a slideshow format. Students are required to include non-fiction text features in their slides. As a class, we are reading Harry Potter (Mrs. Vechsler's FAVOURITE!), and students continue to do Independent reading (iRead) and respond to personal questions in their response journals.

In Science, Grade 6's are working on Space with Mr. Beal while the grade 5's are working on structures and mechanisms in Mrs. Vechsler's class.

Drama, Drama, Drama... Students are working on writing a script in relation to a topic in social studies. They have chosen a topic in a group and are working together to explain different events or processes through dramatic arts.

In Phys-Ed, we are beginning to train for track and field events. Let's hope our fitness unit got us ready!
